Tech pioneer signs multi-year deal with US-based Hecla Mining
The unique FaceCapture mapping system will enable real-time production decision making for those working at mine faces
Created by technology trailblazer Mine Vision Systems (MVS), FaceCapture is expected to bring bold new insights to the mining industry through vision-related technology and software algorithms.
Since its founding in 2015, MVS has pioneered technology for underground 3D mapping and other digital mining resources with the intention of improving efficiency, safety, and production through a unique kind of automation.
With unmatched data collection methods, it was a clear choice for the silver production giant, Hecla Mining (Hecla). The global leader will now utilize FaceCapture mapping at two of its North American sites, enabling the firm to georeference the mine face and thus bring higher quality information to its geologists.
“Our production, productivity, and safety objectives are directly affected by multiple decisions we make at the mine face every day,” commented Matt Blattman, Corporate Director of Technical Services at Hecla. “FaceCapture will allow us to process high quality 3D mine face data in real-time, permitting our team to make critical production decisions and with reduced exposure at the mine face.”
“Hecla has over 130 years of experience driving and embracing new and innovative methods to achieve company objectives,” added Mike Smocer, CEO at MVS. “We are proud to support Hecla’s culture of innovation and desire to provide better data to key employees when they need it.”
